Starting work. But before that... | Monday, September 26, 2005 |
Today I start work again.
Following a cocktail party at Bryce's on Saturday night, Sunday was pretty much a write off courtesy of a hangover induced sleep until gone 3pm. The remainder of the day was spent looking at various real estate websites to try and locate somewhere more permanent to live, a quick trip to the supermarket and dinner out. At about 3am on Monday morning there's no more sleep to be had so I spend another couple of hours looking at property.
Gillian has encouraged me to start running. Today, this means that the alarm was set to go off at 6am. Given that it's now half-five, we get our running things on and head out along the Manly scenic walkway for the walk one minute, run one minute beginners regime.
Running in London would not be the same. We've been out for maybe five minutes and a pair of brilliant red and green Parakeets (or some small parrot like thing) swoop past, squawking loudly. We run/walk for fifteen minutes and turn round at Esplanade park where we stop for a few minutes a watch a number of quite sizable fish leap from the water to catch flies. Not so good for the flies, but for us quite a sight.
The run back is uneventful. Back home, abloutions are tended too and a civilized breakfast of suprisingly high in salt and sugar cornflakes and toast follows and we prepare to head out for the morning. Gillian will be taking the bus with me to work in order to select a bank with which to open an account and then obtain a PO box at the post office local to my office. Given that we're going to be moving shortly, this seems like the best option.
As I'm writing this, one of those parrot-like birds settled on the balcony railing. An attempt to get a picture failed as the camera's flash card is elsewhere.
I think that it's going to be different living here.
