Cold and sticky

Monday, October 17, 2005

Yesterday was not a warm day and got progressively colder as the big hand moved round. In fact, the weather was quite uncooperative altogether.

We had planned on seeing the kite flying festival thingy over in Glebe, but a noticable absence of wind meant that things weren't flying quite as high as they might. Also, I'm not sure if it wasn't running behind schedule somewhat as there weren't all that many participants. Still, we did get to go on the strange little SMERSH*-like light rail thingy (though the tickets are not covered by our ordinary travel pass).

We got off at Prymont and had a walk through Darling Harbour where I ogled the cars outside the Motor Show. A quite impressive line up of Monaro (I'm sure the modern ones outpace the older cars, but I'm not sure they don't lose style points). Nice line of Corvette's too.

By this time, it's actually getting cold. Naturally enough, this calls for beer. Skip forward a bit and we find ourselves at the Hunter Valley wine tasting round by Circular Quay, which is where the sticky comes in.

Lots of lovely sticky desert wines. To cold to enjoy most of whites. By the time we finished here and the rain had set in, I was really thinking that I'd been sold a bum-steer on Sydney's weather.
