I'm waiting for my (Bat) man.

The Gotham Suite. Apparently this

...comprises three works which are Petronio's homage to New York City post 9/11

Personally I haven't a clue what they're on about there, but it was interesting. The first act, frankly was a bit of a snore. The latter parts I felt were more stylish and had more bodies on stage at once, allowing the choreography to show through. A recitation of Poe's dark The Raven, beginning thus

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
" 'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door;
Only this, and nothing more."

was very atmospheric, and the pieces performed to two Lou Reed numbers (All Tomorrow's Parties and I'm waiting for the man) were very well done. I wonder what Mr Reed thinks of this, some 35 years after it was originally released? I doubt that this was on his mind at the time of writing though.

Here he comes, he's all dressed in black
PR shoes and a big straw hat
He's never early, he's always late
First thing you learn is you always gotta wait
I'm waiting for my man

I chose this verse (3rd) as my bus to work takes me in the vicinity of a boys school where the pupils all wear straw boaters but that's probably where the similarities stop.
