We're not in Kansas anymore!

This weekend was glorious. On Sunday, sunshine beat Ruxcon by two falls and one submission so we headed off to the beach in the morning. Given that we're just into the first or second week of Spring, the 32oC sun was a nice treat. It's early in the year, so the first splash in the water is invigorating, but welcome after being baked like that.

Laying on the beach listening to one of the bands performing at the jazz festival (one of the many stages was adjacent to the beach), it's quite difficult to see why there are so many Aussies abroad, but equally easy to see why most eventually return back home.

Manly was rammed with people, so we popped into the supermarket for some lunch things. Sarnies, a nice bottle of wine and a bit of an afternoon snooze in front of the balcony, then back out to see what else was happening. In the end, we walked up to queenscliff and took a look at the saltwater pool there, before walking back to Manly and stopping at the Bavarian Beer Cafe for a light dinner.

Sunday is much the same, but hotter. We run in the morning and swim immediately afterwards in our running things. More beach, though we're forced to retreat at about midday as it's getting a little warm. More lunch, then a trip to Manly Oceanworld.

Big turtles, big eels, big sharks, snakes (ranked in lethality from 5 to 1), spiders and lizards. Quite good fun (and we had a buy-1-get-1 free entrance deal). It also turns out that Sydney Aquarium offer an annual pass for $50 which is also good for Manly. Wish I'd known that yesterday, but still. I'm a sucker for Aquaria, so this sounds just the ticket (pardon the pun).

I think all the sun in the morning was the root cause of my headache in the evening. By about 2030, I'd slunk off to bed to sleep it off. About 30 minutes later, someone turned on the wind outside.

Apparently it's quite common to have a scorcher in the day, then out of nowhere gale force winds appear to whisk you off in a Dorothy-esque like manner to who-knows-where? Gillian had been in the flat once before when it was windy, but I really did have visions of the whole building ending up in the wicked witch of the west's backyard.

In the morning, all was still (comparatively). Still enough to do mooooore running...
