Meatloaf | Saturday, November 12, 2005 |
Legendary is the phrase used to describe Meatloaf (is that Mr. Meatloaf to his bank manager do you suppose?) by the site that I sourced this flattering shot from. Personally, I think that goggle-eyed may be a more apt description, but why quibble over sematics? So, to set the scene...
Like a bat out of hell
I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone gone gone
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the day is done
And the sun goes down
And the moonlight’s shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven
I’ll come crawling on back to you
I’m gonna hit the highway like a battering ram
On a silver black phantom bike
When the metal is hot and the engine is hungry
I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone gone gone
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the day is done
And the sun goes down
And the moonlight’s shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven
I’ll come crawling on back to you
I’m gonna hit the highway like a battering ram
On a silver black phantom bike
When the metal is hot and the engine is hungry
And so it drones on. I've listened to (and according to some, still do) some pretty dubious music, but on a silver black phantom bike? Good grief.
Anyway, enough scene setting. The bats were back tonight, or rather we were organized enough to be lying in wait for them. Some deft camera work has resulted in one usable picture - it's not the greatest, but it's nearly dark and this zoom is a slow f/5.6 out there in the boonies at 300mm. The ISO's been boosted to an altogether unreasaonable 3200 and still the shutter speed is too slow to freeze the little blighters. Nothing that £1500 lens wouldn't fix, but I don't want a picture of bats quite that badly. You'll note, and I hope appreciate, that I've annotated it appropriately.
