Turkey and Parsley | Monday, December 19, 2005 |
It feels like it was a busy weekend. We had planned on beach time on Saturday, but the weather sucker-punched us. What started out as a grey and miserable day ultimately turned out nice.
We did a bit of Secret Santa shopping for a turkey dinner at Bryce's on Sunday, and then headed out to Greg and Sarah's for drinkies and nibbles. Saturday night was the night of the big carol concert that is held in the Domain and this year the Hoff was recruited to sing. Sadly we didn't see him but did hear the fireworks that closed the event.
Sunday dawned clear and bright but not as warm as recently. Nevertheless we pottered off to Parsley Bay on a bus the weaved its way along the coast via Double and Rose bays and then towards Vaucluse.
I have read that Parsley Bay offers some of the best snorkelling in and around Sydney, and although I took a mask I didn't really spend all that much time in the water.
To be honest I was bit suprised about the snorkelling comment as the water was clear, but not really teaming with interesting fish. As we were leaving though and walked across the bridge, I could see where we should actually have gone. Lessons for another day I suppose but a nice morning out even so.
The bus took us all the way back to Circular Quay where took a few minutes to see a photo exhibition in the Library that we'd been meaning to see for a while, and that would be closed by the time we get back from NZ. A quick lunch, then back home before heading to Bryce's with armfulls of Gillian's baked cheesecakes.
Tonight we're out with Sasha who's over from the UK which will be great, and then after that I think I'm going to have a few days off the booze before xmas.
