73 and 94

1973 was the year that saw the signing of the Vietnam peace agreement and the 4th Arab-Israeli War which in turn contributed to the "Oil Shocks" that destabalized world engery prices in the 70's. The invention of the "CAT Scan" probably came to late for most of those injured. The World Trade Centre in New York was officially opened. Pablo Picasso died.

1973 was also the year that Dom Perignon produced the champagne that Gillian and I were drinking at a friend's picnic (indoor due to blustery conditions) at the weekend. I've been off bubbles for a while, but I can say that this
totally restored my faith.

Apparently (because this isn't a subject I'm strong on), this was the Oenotheque Vintage 1973 from the Moet Wine Library and was cellared until bottled a few years back. It's just a shame that the huge cost of the bottle means that's likely to the last time I drink it for a while as I could get very used to it. A rough calculation suggests that this would retail (if you can find any) at around ₤700 a bottle. Awesome.

94 is the % humidity here today. That's not so good :-(
