Best. Beach. Ever.

Freshwater beach - an oasis in the slog to look at apartments. We're not due to leave the hutch until the end of march but figured we should hire a car and take a look around some of the places that we consider as possibles - so far a paper only exercise.

We saw 7 apartments yesterday in a variety of buildings - some new apartment blocks, older buildings and a couple of houses. The old maxim "if it sounds to good to be true..." was certainly proven, and we've pretty much decided that older places are a no-no if they don't specifically mention a dishwasher.

Most of these were in the Queenscliff / Harbord regions just north of Manly. Next week we'll have a go at Dee Why as it's been on the receiving end of significant recent development. Locally, this is percieved as a bad thing, but hopefully will also have introduced an influx of dishwashers. Collaroy and Narrabeen have gorgeous beaches but were beginning to feel a little far out (and not in a "Look at the colours, Dave" kind of way). I'm not really sure that the stunning surroundings would entirely compensate.

Still, not knowing much about aussie houses, it was an interesting exercise and I reckon that afer a stab at this next week we should have a pretty sound baseline to work off of. Of course, by then we'll be sick and tired of the subject and will no-doubt take the first thing that we see, but what can you do?
