Brucey Bonus | Wednesday, January 25, 2006 |
The office today was awash with palpable excitement. For the long-term members of staff, bonus day had come around again and it was with much expectation that everyone else trotted into the bosses office for the (hopefully) good news.
I'm no longer the newbie of the team. Denys started last week so I now feel like a bit of an old hand, but nevertheless have only been there four months. As such it was a very big suprise to be awarded a share of the pie. Mine's been pro-rated down - but I'm still very happy. Had I done the full 12 months, I can only assume I'd be bouncing off the walls. With a car purchase imminent, this couldn't have come at a better time.
So, no sitting on my ass for me over the next year. I guess this is more in expectation of what I'll do that what I've done, so I'd better not disappoint. My current time-sink is a component of a conceptually boring, technically interesting and very high profile project and is already gaining a few compliments at the proof of concept stage. Just need to follow through and the year will be off to a great start.
On top of that, it's Australia day tomorrow, my birthday on friday then the weekend. So, 4 days off on top of a totally unexpected bonus - what a nice week!
:-)
