There are 3 _'s in the title, so the challenge is to think of a four letter word that starts with F.
For reasons that I won't go into, my laptop got well and truely owned yesterday as a result of visiting a, er, backup site and being nailed by the WMF Escape/SetAbortProc problem that's been unleashed onto an an unsuspecting world over xmas.
I'm sure that there's a perfectly logical reason why the designers of the Windows Meta File (file, the mystery 4 letter word) graphics format thought that it would be a good idea to allow it to hook a callback and execute code, but I must be being a bit of a thicky as I can't immediately see it.
Anyway, I think the cure was worse than the cold in this instance, so it's off to format/install/sp2/kb/kb/kb/etc land we've been tonight which is obviously what I wanted to be doing in-between dinner and dahl frenzy.
In all probability there won't be a patch for at least another week (not much persuades Microsoft to break their patch cycle these days), so we're left with un-official patches instead unless you happen to be running an AMD64 on XP SP2 (yeah, right, in an affordable laptop). AMD should really push that feature going forward I think.
Grrr.
