After a late, but very entertaining evening out we were on the first ferry to Manly this morning to view an apartment at 0930. After only 3.5 hours sleep it's fair to say there was some reluctance about getting up and the threat of a hangover was never too far away.

The ferry trip to Manly is really rather nice - when the sun is out (as it was today), it's like a miniature cruise, and as the Opera House slides by and you head out towards the open sea the gentle bobbing of the ferry is quite relaxing.

Once in Manly we walked from the ferry terminal along the length of the beach and up into Queenscliff to find the apartment. The one we looked at is perhaps a 10 minute walk from the beach, not huge, but with a much larger living space than the current place. The lounge looks down to Manly Lagoon where on the far side, guys were playing cricket this morning.

The place itself has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two carspaces (with one of those hydraulic ramp things to get provide the two spaces) and a light, open plan living area. One other couple were also viewing it (funnily enough we've crossed their paths before). They liked it, so did we.

We filled in our application form and faxed it back this afternoon, and I suspect they will have done the same. Apparently in the event of multiple applications, the owner decides. Hopefully, "Mr IT Security Architect" for big bank will kick sand in the face of the other applicants. Guess we'll find out next week.

After this, the beach called and we walked back down the hill stopping only to marvel and the monster spiders presiding over their webs in the bushes. These were the first really large spiders I've seen since we got here, dreadful plump yellow and black/brown things. They looked large enough to eat cats but they're nothing to some of the horrors that lurk out there. I'm sure they're harmless (yeah, right), but they look awful. For the almost all of you with fast internet connections have a look at the full sized version

Hopefully, the apartment doesn't come with any of those.

After a couple of dips in the ocean, it was back on the ferry to home, a spot of lunch and a bit of an afternoon nap.
