New apartment | Tuesday, March 28, 2006 |
After six months living off Oxford Street, Gillian and I are now taking the sea air back out at Manly/Queenscliff with an apartment right across from the beach and with a sea view to boot.
Moving was the usual stress, sweat and wallet hurting escapade but all things considered went quite smoothly. We even got a substantial amount of the unpacking done.
Once the removalists had gone I dashed out to the beach for a swim in the late afternoon sun. It seems though that the impressive waves yesterday made for bad swimming and there were no swimming signs dotted along the beach at regular intervals. As such, I had to satisfy myself with a dip in the Queenscliff sea pool. I didn't stay in long - really only long enough to splash up to the end just in time to get deluged by a wave breaking over the edge and back again (with a bit of standing around admiring the spume off the surf).
This tranquil end to the afternoon was quickly undone by the spectre of unpacking, but it felt quite decadent.
