I got the feeling that something ain't right

It has been one of those days.
It started well with a walk along to Shelly Beach but took a downturn when I agreed to go sofa shopping. We need a sofa as the sofa bed which should be in the downstairs bedroom is still all we have to sit on in the lounge.

We went off to Condamine Street first and managed a tour around Freedom Furniture without incident and then came a bit unstuck in Leather Republic.

Their music was an interesting choice with the popular peace protest song ‘Blowing in the Wind’ playing as we entered the store, lots of horrible furniture and plastic aubergines and durian as decorations, we decided it was not just the wind that blew.

We headed to Crows Nest next as there are loads of furniture stores there and we might find something we liked, and stopped for lunch at Xenos, a Greek restaurant that seemed to offer a bit of everything including a massive portion of moussaka which came with a mountain of Greek salad. The restaurant was full of brunching couples and families out for lunch, the large table in the middle started to fill with a party and then a woman arrived who I thought was about to be a Liza Minelli singing telegram, but she was just one of the guests with an interesting fashion sense.

Simon and I hauled ourselves away from lunch and back to Pacific Highway in search again for a sofa which would not cripple either our wallets or us. Coco Republic had nothing to offer but another interesting choice of music, why play ‘Stuck in the middle with you’ in your store? Conjuring up images of ears being severed surely cannot be the mood they want to put their shoppers in? Reservoir recliners anyone?

We bought a table and chairs for the balcony in Freedom Furniture, still no sofa though.
