Gillian and I in an effort to get more of our pictures off the server and onto the walls recently did a Picture Framing essentials course run by Sydney Community College.
Split ofer two satarday's in Rozelle we learnt a bit about frames and their construction, the choosing of matt's (the coloured area that usually sits between the actual picture frame) and assembly techniques.
The stated goal of the course was to enable people to frame their own works, either by buying any of the components pre-made and doing the other parts yourself, or, as we did, cut the frame and matt's from raw materials.
We're both being a bit critical about our own work, but we think they're ok for a first attempt.
