This weekend on and off, I've been watching Season 1 of Deadwood, a drama set in the town of the same name in 1876. After ignoring it for a few years, it turns out that it's actually pretty good.
It's an HBO production, and tends towards the earthy langauge - to be accurate that's a huge understatement. It makes the UK show Shameless seem quite polite and I doubt that it would be broadcast in the UK in an uncut version (which I think is what I have, probably from DVD).
Ian McShane (who plays the distinctly unpleasent saloon owner) has been in a variety of things over the years, but I doubt he's sworn (all the four letter words here, including those that even the BBC shirk from) as much in some series as a single epsiode of Deadwood.
