Blogger ate my post (was $6m arse) | Saturday, March 24, 2007 |
This is the short version after blogger ate the original post.
Managed to see first game of Super 14's - we're in round eight, so not a very good effort so far. Technically it's the second I've seen, having caught the Chiefs game last weekend but we were away and the place had Sky, so there'd have been no excuses had we missed it. So it's the first one here, ok?
The SMH had this to say;
So it was nice to get somewhere that was showing the match, but truely the (delete as applicable), Woeratahs/Waratards were shit.
For a short time I considered buying a season ticket, then decided that really it was quite expensive for what it was (I like watching games on TV, you get good commentary and thousands of meaningless statistics, it doesn't rain, and the beer's cheaper).
I'd have been fuming if I'd have paid the $482 required (ok, so that's with the best seat, but I can't see the point of sitting somewhere out back, around the corner down the road). And this performance is in a year when a large percentage of the All Blacks players are sitting matches out to reduce the chances of injury on the lead up to the 2007 World Cup in September.
I might switch to these warratahs instead. I reckon they, or for that matter, me, could have scored 6 points.

The wilting Waratahs consigned themselves to a long, agonising run to the end of their Super 14 season that will match the misery of a funeral cortege with their woeful 34-6 loss to the Blues last night.
From the start, the Waratahs' body language was laboured and bumbling, leaving many to ask if they came to play or just get the best places among the 26,500 Eden Park crowd to watch the Blues.
