Just after Christmas my faithful old MP3 player started failing to charge properly and then stopped being seen by my PC at all. Simon managed to have a bit more success with it on the laptop and then it stopped being able to load files from there as well.
The original MP3 player had been a gift from Simon a couple of years ago and has been a constant companion while running and walking.
Simon quickly raced to the rescue and ordered one of the new iPod Shuffle’s for me from the Apple Web site and when it arrived some days later at my office there was a special surprise as there was a message engraved on it for me.
I was off to Adelaide that weekend so Simon took it home, unfortunately when he tried to actually put music on it there was a hardware fault and he had to arrange for a replacement.
Ten days later the replacement arrived at work, I took it home and charged it and then noticed that instead of the expected engraving there was some random text engraved on the back. Back to Apple again and after what seems like an unreasonable number of phone calls, and days wait, I was finally able to collect the new iPod from Warringah Mall on Wednesday.
During all this time they have introduced colours to this range and I now have a lovely new orange iPod with the message originally requested by Simon. It works beautifully and I now have no excuses to avoid running.
