What do Chinamen and Pelican's have in common?

Saturday, April 21, 2007

No, it's not a bad joke.

After deciding last night to not go to the club we'd intended to following a long week at work, we got up by most people's standards reasonably early today with a view to cycling to Spit Bridge where the Pelicans roost and take a couple of snaps.

We went a different way today - along one of the few pieces of dedicated cycle path in the area on a journey that was otherwise uneventful.

Needless to say, when we arrived on the far side of Spit Bridge there wasn't a Pelican to be seen. They're a bit fickle about their attendence but have been there most days this week despite disappointing today.

This is the route that I cycle to work so I thought I'd drag Gillian a little way up Parriwi road so she could see what I see when I puff my way up the hill.

At the bottom of Parriwi road is a piece of advertising that always makes me smile. I accept that I'm easily pleased (as anyone who's ever the 'Jamaica? No she went of her own accord' line that I trot out with some regularilty will confirm)

Nevertheless, we don't have a requirement for this type of service in the UK.
