Eclipse

All non-basic lands are mountains, originally uploaded by dmmaus.

On Tuesday night in Sydney we had a lunar eclipse. The shadow started to fall across the moon at 19:00 and then by about eight o'clock the moon was covered to turn a strange orange-brown colour.

I had raced home from work and grabbed my bike and cycled up to the headland above Shelly beach to watch. It had been a warm day but it started to cool during the hour spent waiting for the moon to be covered and I did not stay long to watch the eclipsed state itself.

Pedalling home there were loads of people out watching, and having picnic dinners or takeaways down by the beach, almost like a summer's evening.

I took some pictures, but as I only had the IXUS with me, they are not great so I have used someone else's to illustrate this.
