Summer is here | Saturday, September 29, 2007 |
This weekend is labour weekend and sees the world renowned (apparently) Manly Jazz festival monopolise the town for the weekend. Jazz isn't really my bag but I don't mind a bit now and then and there's something quite nice about lying in the sun, on the sand listening to something mellow.
The festival is however down the other end of the beach and I'm not sure I can be bothered to walk down there today. In many respects it's like my thoughts on elephants when in Thailand recently in that it's sufficient for me to know that they're there and that I could, if I wished take part.
This weekend (at least I think it's this weekend) also brings breach patrol back to the sand. The Queenscliff SLSC will be out every day for the next 4 or 5 months making sure that people don't drown themselves, get caught in rips or are otherwise molested by Jellyfish (or more likely Physalia physalis, the Portuguese Man-of-War more commonly known here as the Blue Bottle).
It's a lovely day so far with blue skies and sea. There's a dive boat about 600m off shore and it's one of those days that makes you look forward to summer.
